Last weekend, our city held “League PRO–2024”, and the TopProm team took third place in this traditional Christmas futsal tournament.

A total of 16 teams competed for the Cup. After the first day of the tournament, our team rose to first place in its bracket and made the quarterfinals, where the miners were challenged by the Dynamo-Abagur team. Playing calmly and efficiently, our team won with a score of 5:0. Inspired by the victory, TopProm then faced the Titan team in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time. Unfortunately, in the shootout the opponents were luckier.

“Any penalty is a lottery. In futsal, it is more tricky to draw a lucky number, because free kicks are taken from six meters. This is quite a short distance, and you just can't predict where the ball will fly,” explains Vladimir Pronchin, the goalkeeper of our team. “This time the odds were against us.”

Nevertheless, TopProm was not going to finish out of medals. In the play-off for the 3rd place, the miners scored 15 goals against the Elite team, winning thus the bronze of the tournament. All in all, our team scored 35 goals over two days of the tournament.

“We've performed pretty well. Certainly, our aim was the Cup, but sometimes it's just about luck, despite your best efforts. Anyway, such annual tournaments are a great tradition our team won't miss,” Alexey commented.

Looking back, in 2022 TopProm became second-best in the Christmas tournament.
